Woman Gives Birth After Just 21 Days Of Pregnancy

One of the hardest parts about being pregnant is thinking about all of the things that could go wrong for both the mother and the baby in a given situation. Most parents just hope for a happy and healthy baby, and keep their fingers crossed that all will go well along the way.

In the fall of 2006, Sonja and Eddie Taylor were just like all of these other expecting parents, wanting to welcome a healthy baby into the world. The couple had issues getting pregnant for years, so they were ecstatic to learn that Sonja had become pregnant from an artificial insemination treatment.

However, their dream soon took a turn for the worse. Their baby had complications just 4 months into the pregnancy, and doctors warned that they needed to induce the birth in order to protect the life of the mother.

Sonja did not want to risk losing her baby, so she did the unthinkable and she lied to her doctor. She told the doctor that she was 24 weeks pregnant and not 21 weeks, hoping to increase the chances of the medical team saving her baby girl.

Defeating all odds, baby Amilia was born after just 21 weeks and 6 days in the womb, the youngest baby to ever survive a premature birth 2

Amilia weighed just over half a pound, and was extremely delicate and fragile for her first few months of life, to the point where her parents weren’t even able to touch her.

After almost a year, little Amilia was able to go home to her family, and her parents eventually adopted a 16 year old girl to expand their family and the love they had to share. 5
