The Future is Here. Genius Student Builds Knife Proof Batsuit..

Philadelphia University Industrial Design student Jackson Gordon has come up with his own version of the Batsuit that even Dr. Lucius Fox at Wayne Enterprises would be proud of.

He raised funds to make the suit on Kickstarter and has just completed the project. The results are quite spectacular too. After all, how else can you withstand dozens of punches and even a KNIFE to the chest and come away unscathed?!

The finished helmet weighs in at around three pounds, while the suit itself comes in at about 25 pounds.“It sounds like a lot, and when you have it in a bag over your shoulder it weighs a ton, but when you are actually wearing it, you barely feel it,” says Gordon.

He also says that one of his major priorities was ensuring that the suit was comfortable and easy to move around in. “If this were to inhibit my movement, it would be completely useless.”

Gordon has posted a pair of YouTube videos to his Armatus Designs Facebook demonstrating some basic stress tests for the real-life Batsuit. In the first video, Gordon demonstrates how the basic suit material holds up against knife slashes.

In the second video, Gordon demonstrates a prototype of the chest plate. It stops a knife thrust dead. Punches still knock Gordon around a little, but one can imagine an assailant’s moment of surprise when a typical punch to the chest against the Batsuit does nothing.

As Gordon demonstrates, that moment is all Batman would need to take someone down.

And in this video, Gordon not only tests the final version of the chest plate, but also the soft armour plates around his ribs and shoulders, while taunting the kid who is punching away at the Batsuit.

We can’t wait to see what Gordon does if he raises the funds to sort his whip out and build an insane Batmobile…

Not only has he sorted out Batman’s suit, he’s also promised to sort his ridiculous voice out. So the next time you see the Bat out – played by Ben Affleck – his voice won’t be that husky mess, but something cool and menacing – think James Bond meets The Terminator.
