Single Mom Sits Next To Her Daughter And Demands To Die. The Reason Will Break Your Heart…

Get out the Kleenex because when you hear 43-year-old Christy O’Donnell’s story, the first thing you will do is cry.

Though begging to be allowed to die may sound controversial, it isn’t uncommon. When a 7-year-old boy was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor he knew that dying sooner rather than later would be the only way he could save three lives, including his mother’s, by donating his organs.

Much like the 7-year-old boy, O’Donnell was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and given six months to live. She hadn’t smoked a single day in her life.

Doctors have told her that her death will be painful. O’Donnell describes it as a process of “drowning” in her own fluids, over and over again until her body can no longer bear it.

“The most likely way that I’m going to die with the lung cancer is that my left lung will fill with fluid; I’ll start drowning in my own fluid,” O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell has worked her entire life on the side of the law. Unfortunately, today the law is not on her side.

She wrote in an op-ed for Los Angeles Daily News:

“My entire professional life in California as a civil rights attorney and police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department has been devoted to upholding the laws of California; yet these same laws now prohibit me from having the option to pass with less suffering and spare myself and family a lengthy, prolonged and painful death.”
