It can be tough being a stay-at-home mom whose husband works long hours. Tthe same can be said for stay-at-home dads with working wives. But Jonna Miller, a stay-at-home mom and blogger has a great piece of advice for anyone who feels angry at their spouse for being gone long hours. “Do his laundry,” she said.

After weeks of her husband coming home late and missing out on dinner and family time, Jonna got to the end of her rope. She says of that moment, “In the back of my mind all I was thinking was ‘Boy, is he going to hear it from me when he gets home!’” When the dryer buzzer went off, the last thing she wanted to do was fold the laundry, but in doing that simple chore, she had her epiphany.Screenshot 2016-04-12 at 4.55.04 PM - Display 2

She went through the motions of sorting and folding clothes, all the while fuming about her husband’s absence. It was only when she had separated hers and her husband’s clothes that she noticed something…Screenshot-2016-04-12-at-4.55.04-PM-Display-2

“Why did my clothes look so vibrant, clean and new? His were dingy, stained and torn. I stopped folding and just stood there, thinking. This man provides more than I deserve… I get spoiled with the fruits of his labor and he is okay with a pair of torn boxer briefs… His heart is full when he walks into the door and our daughter runs for him excitedly yelling ‘DADA!’”

After this revelation, Jonna has been coming to terms with her hardworking husband. Now, his long schedule makes her proud rather than frustrated. That afternoon, a simple change in mindset changed everything for this young couple. If you’d like to read more of Jonna’s words on this subject, check out her blog post by clickinghere!

This is a valuable lesson worth sharing with anyone who has a hardworking husband, wife, or parent.
