Food fusion is all the rage, but why leave it at Mexican pasta or Asian inspired tacos? There’s so much more to be done here. That’s why we wanted to mix together our favorite Chinese take-out item with a down home southern staple-macaroni and cheese.
Oh yes, get ready to sink your teeth into cheesy, delicious egg rolls with a taste of home.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 box of Mac and Cheese, prepared
- ½ cup cooked crumbled bacon
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil for frying
- What You’ll Do:Begin by laying your egg roll wrappers out on your work surface and toss your cooked cheesy pasta with the crumbled bacon. Place about ¼ cup of the macaroni and cheese mixture into the center of the wrapper, and then wet the edges of the dough with your fingers to ensure that it sticks together.
Now, carefully fold in the edges and then roll it up from the bottom like a burrito. Do this with your remaining wrappers until all of your rolls are ready. Heat up your oil in a large skillet, and fry these up a few at a time, flipping halfway to make sure they get nice and brown on all sides.
While these are tasty just as they are, feel free to get creative. If you love the kick that onion gives, chop up some chives and toss them in the mix. Need a little veggie action? Wilt some spinach or other greens into the hot pasta and you make the mac and cheese. Whatever you do, enjoy them!
